Day 8: "get pushed" challenge

So this week I am doing something new with my project 365 and I am SO excited about it! Within project 365 there are different discussions that you can join in order to structure your picture a day. One of those groups is called the "get pushed" challenge. Each week you are paired with a random project 365 member who would also like to be a part of the challenge. You then have to look back at their photos and determine areas that they have identified as being something they would like to work on within photography or areas that they do not usually take pictures of. You then challenge that person to take pictures within that category for the week and they do the same to you. This week my partner challenged me to take self-portraits that describe who I am. Yikes!! I have had to do self-portraits with my 30 day challenge last year and let me tell you, it was TOUGH. There is just something about having to juggle camera settings, posing myself (I feel like it is harder for me to think of poses for myself then poses for other people- go figure) and then trying to adjust after checking the photo. Phew. I normally snap a couple pics and then feel like none of them look right and call it a day. Seriously. So, this week is going to definitely challenge me but I am looking forward to it!

So, my thoughts are that each day for this week I am going to take a self-portrait that tries to capture the many different "hats" I wear: student, doctor, wife, dog-owner, friend, daughter, Christ-follower, photographer, sister, cook (I almost wrote chef but HA who am I kidding??), aunt, outdoors-enthusiast, singer/pianist (that's a bit more rusty these days...)....anyways, you get the picture. Today's post: Dr. Heather. Your friendly medical student you see in the clinic before the full fledged MD gets in the room. I thought this was fitting since today I managed a small victory in clinic-- getting a 2 year old to believe that my stethoscope was the coolest thing ever to have sitting on your chest rather than the terrifying instrument of torture they usually think it is. One point me, zero points to "doctors are the bad guys" mentality.
