Many people ask me what "sathi" means and why I would name my photography business such a unique name. I have had the wonderful opportunity to live and work with marginalized communities. A part of this was a six month internship in India where I met some incredible people and learned (and am still learning!) what community, social justice, faith and friendship means. After moving to the great state of North Dakota, my husband and I had the privilege of becoming friends with a dear Bhutanese family. They called us their American "sathi" which means "friend" in Nepali. Despite our different cultures we were able to become friends- what an honor! It is my desire to always find common ground and better understand the neighbors around me- to go from strangers to friends. Photography gives me the unique opportunity to do just that. Go from complete strangers to finding commonality and capturing their unique personality.

 

  I am a general surgery resident based out of New Orleans, Louisiana.   After spending six years in the great state of North Dakota, where I graduated from medical school, my husband and I were thrilled to move to the beautiful state of Louisiana to start surgery residency in 2017.  I have had the privilege of living in many different places around the US  from North Carolina to Chicago, North Dakota to Louisiana and even a brief two year stay in Oklahoma! Our next stop is pediatric surgery fellowship in Florida starting in the summer of 2024.

 

I have a passion for photography and have had the privilege of capturing moments for the last 10 years. My goal is for you to have fun during your session and to capture the heart of the person within the photograph.  I love to hang out with my amazing hubby, our adorable 2 year old kiddo and two lovable labs. I also love to laugh, drink Starbucks coffee (although my heart will forever belong to Intelligensia coffee in Chicago!), share life and learn more about people.
